Here’s the crux: as an IC, I wouldn’t have spotted that tendency. When your thinking is fuzzy as an individual contributor, you iterate until it functions. No one else must decipher your intent. Management eliminated that safety net. If my team misunderstands my aim, I can’t silently correct it myself. I must improve at conveying the purpose, not just the instructions.
